President’s Message

Our well attended November meeting included several members that normally can not attend. The noon meeting time was a first for us, and judging from the feedback that we received, many preferred it to our regular meeting time. If you were unable to attend this mid-day meeting, we have another scheduled this spring.

Doug Fieldhouse presented a very informative and interesting program on thermal expansion valves. The topic generated many questions and a lively discussion period.

This month, we will be meeting at our regular time with another application oriented topic. Mr. James McClure will be presenting a program on master planning of mechanical systems for schools. This will be a good program that will shed light on such questions as "Why are we doing it this way?"

See you there!

The BOG meeting was called to order at 5:10 PM with Steve Chen, Steve Hancock, Dan Pierce, Dick Cawley, Bill Stiles, Robert Helt, Russ Cude, Joe Hague, Bert McJimsey and Jose Balderrama in attendance.

Minutes from last meetings as written in the October issue of the SlipStick were approved.

Russ Cude reported that adds for October and November meetings were in the business section of the Sunday newspaper. He is looking into T.V.Cable messages for coming months.

Concerning TIGA, Bill Stiles reported that mailings of issues/updates to local municipalities are coming soon. This will give us 200 PAOE points. He will be contacting a TU Electric representative to work in a Energy Saving Program.

Education chairman Bert McJimsey reported that 8 students were accepted and two more have applied. He was asked by Gene Branum for a historic perspective of how Engineering has changed over the years. Gene would also like to have us review and edit a list of attributes for evaluation of scholarships for students. It was decided to discuss in next meeting the level of scholarship money.

Steve Hancock reported that Slipstick distribution is working well with 75 paper copies being send and no new responses from E-mail users.

Robert Helt reported on arrangements that next meeting will be

Historian chair Joe Hague reported that he took movie pictures from our regular meeting. He also has made progress updating the Chapter History having scanned the last chapter to MS Word. The book is 28 pages and will need 20 to 30 copies for the 30th year of our Chapter.

Steve Chen reported Survey results which will be summarized in the Nov. Slipstick.

It was decided by all to review our Responsibilities in upcoming meetings. Steve Chen, Robert and Dan Pierce will start next week.

The general meeting started at 12:40 PM with the introduction of speaker Doug Fieldhouse of the Sporlan Valve Co. who gave a very interesting talk on Thermal Expansion Valves with many questions from the audience. Attendance was 17 members, and 5 guests.
