Steve Chen and Jose Balderrama represented the East Texas Chapter at the CRC held in Corpus Christi last month. Jim Crawford, Robert Helt, Russ Cude, Jay Field, and Mike Wendt also attended and were a great help in covering the Saturday workshops. Workbooks and information gained regarding next year’s operating guidelines will be passed-on to incoming chairpersons.

Our last meeting of the year will be May 15 at the Trane Company. Remember that this is the night to bring your spouse or guest. Eric Ballard of TJC will present this month’s program on "The Internet". Be sure to bring your comments and questions for Eric to address!

During the meal (which will be catfish, catered by Mr. T), we will induct officers for the coming year, award student scholarships, and hear an overall approach plan for next year. Please make every effort to attend, as this is the highlight meeting of the year.

A president is only as good as those who support him. With this in mind, I want to sincerely thank the officers, chairmen, and members for their diligent work that made this year so eventful. Building upon the accomplishments of this past year, I look forward to greater achievements under the incoming leadership. I appreciate all of your efforts that have made my term as President an enjoyable, rewarding experience.

The BOG meeting was called to order at 5:10 PM. Present in the meeting were: Steve Chen, Steve Hancock, Bert McJimsey, Joe Hague, Dan Pierce, Dick Cawley, Mike Wendt, Gene Branum, Robert Helt, Russ Cude, Kirby Bicknell and Jose Balderrama.

The minutes from the last meeting were approved.

Steve Chen reported two events he will be involved with at the CRC meeting: Nomination of Dick Cawley to the Nominating Committee, and submission of application to promote Joe Hague to Fellow member. Steve requested that all Chairs fill-in the information with the PAOE points for the CRC Report.

Bert McJimsey on Student Activities reported that he has 2 applicants for the scholarships. He will have a vote next week.

Gene Branum reminded us that the Joint Engineers Banquet will be our Chapter responsibility the year after next. Dick Cawley suggested that we nominate for that job before the end of summer. This suggestion was approved.

Joe Hague on History reported he is close to release the new edition of the History book.

Kirby Bicknell on membership reported a total of 454 PAOE points. He had 3 new members, 2 delinquent members that have or will pay and 1 drop-out member.

Mike Wendt reported he will have 300 PAOE points by the end of the year.

Steve Hancock completed newsletter in time before meeting.

Robert Helt reported next meeting is spouse night and the program will be about the Internet. He suggested we inquired with Deborah C. Foster how we can get our Slipstick included in INSIGHTS.

The general meeting started at 12:00 PM April 17, 1997. The program was a very interesting presentation by Mick Ringeisen about Noise Control. There were 17 members, 2 student members and 6 guests.
