President’s Message I would like to thank those who represented the East Texas ASHRAE Chapter at the Dallas CRC. For those who were not able to attend, I just want you to know that you missed a great time to be had by all. It’s hard to beat great food and even better company. Thanks again. MAY: Our chapter program on May 20th will be "Tyler’s Economy" presented by Mr. Mark Fortlage, V.P. of Marketing and Research for the Tyler Economic Council. Be sure to bring your significant others because this is also spouse night. In advance, I would like to thank Dr. & Mrs. Jay Field for the use of their lovely lakeside manor. I look forward to seeing you there. Regards, Tom Kennedy Acting Chapter President
Tom Kennedy called the meeting to order at 7:45. The previous month’s meeting minutes were approved as written. In attendance were Tom Kennedy, Robert Helt, Bert McJimsey, Mike Wendt, Dick Cawley, Steve Hancock, Jeff Stewart, Jay Field, Rhamy Morrison, and Bill Stiles. New Business. There was a question as to whether or not UT Tyler is being informed of our meetings. Steve Hancock will check into the distribution. Bert plans to call them today about tonight’s meeting. Those planning to attend the upcoming CRC are: McJimsey, Helt, Cawley, Stewart, Stiles, and Kennedy. Tom left PAOE point forms on everyone’s desk. Need to wrap these up this week if possible. He needs those no later than one week from Monday. Those attending the CRC should get together to see which seminars will be attended to be sure we cover them all. We need to bring up the dues payment problems at the CRC. Jay Field may write up a summary for Tom to present. Old Business. Robert Helt has prepared the ballots for next year’s officers. The nominating committee is recommending Bert McJimsey for secretary. The board of governors nominees are Joe Hague, Dick Cawley, and Robert Helt. Tom can appoint someone to fill Bert’s position as Student Programs chair. Robert also mentioned that they are considering a "Past President’s Pin" in recognition of their service. Programs Report. Arrangements for tonight’s program are complete except for a projector screen. Mike Wendt mentioned he can bring one if we don’t locate one; Rhamy suggested checking with Linda Kuehl first. The May meeting will be at Jay Field’s house. Robert has arranged for catfish from Roger Tidwell. We plan to continue trying the BOG meeting over breakfast. Publicity Report: Rhamy sent fliers to 16 locations in Tyler and surrounding cities. He also passed along the meeting information to TV, radio, and Trane T-mail. Comments on the appearance of the flier were favorable. We will look at also sending it to other engineering societies. We did not try the post card mail-out idea this time. We may try that before our next meeting. Education Report: We have selected two winners of the local chapter scholarship: Jonathan Wade and Shane Lee both of TJC. Those will be presented to the two students at tonight’s meeting. We may look at awarding some to UT Tyler students next year as well. Another possibility would be to provide some funding to the student section. Activities for PAOE points included tours for TJC, A&M, and UT Tyler as well as a student breakfast meeting. Treasurer’s Report: The scholarship checks have been prepared. Bill needs any information we have on other expenses. One noted was for the plaque that we are preparing for the Joint Engineers Banquet work.
The meeting adjourned at 8:20. Jeff Stewart, Chapter Secretary
