We gather in EAST TEXAS for education, to raise funds for research, to support the establishment of engineering standards, to exchange with our peers and to have a good time. The EAST TEXAS Chapter was chartered on October 24,1961 as a part of ASHRAE. Our members have always been active on the Society and regional levels. The Chapter has hosted the ASHRAE chapter regional conferences. We are located within the geography of Region VIII which includes parts or all of Arkansas, Louisiana, Mexico, Oklahoma and Texas. We meet in conference annually to train our chapter leaders and obtain technical training. We also gather at each Society meeting as a region for dinner and fellowship. Our Chapter meets monthly except for the summer. Our meetings are usually followed by a technical session which allows members an hour of focus on the engineering aspects of a concept or product while minimizing the commercialism unique to a specific brand of product. Our Chapter of 50 members is active in our community, in regional leadership and on the Society level. We can accomplish more if you will also get involved. Look over our website and see what we’re doing. Send an e-mail to or call a committee chair or other leader. Help yourself, your profession and your community, all at the same time. To join in, come to our next meeting. If you are not currently a member, individuals may join ASHRAE and become part of the EAST TEXAS Chapter at the same time. You can also contact Society at 800/5-ASHRAE.
We are tax exempt under the 1954 Internal Revenue Code under section 501(c)(3) and have been issued permission to provide a sales tax exemption certificate when requested.
